It can be hard to cut through the vast television landscape to find the gems that are worth watching.

Bob Thompson, the founding director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture, and a trustee professor of television and popular culture at the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, joins Boston Public Radio every week to share his takes on the best and the worst that TV has to offer.

This week, Thompson picked HBO's new comedy series "A Black Lady Sketch Show" as his best of the week, the reboot of "Beverly Hills, 90210" as his worst, and the premiere of the second season of AMC’s "The Terror" as his recommendation for what to watch.
