Renowned Boston artists Stephen Hamilton and Napoleon Jones-Henderson have been orbiting each other for years — including showing their work in the same museum exhibitions. They are finally converging, collaborating on an art installation commissioned by Roxbury Community College on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. The piece will be unveiled this Saturday at Roxbury Community College’s Golden Jubilee Gala; Hamilton and Jones-Henderson joined The Culture Show to talk about their collaborative creative process.
Also in this episode, award-winning writer Gish Jen joins us from Shanghai to discuss her recent cultural experiences as a window into East-West relations. In conversation with host Jared Bowen, she unpacks everything from the Broadway hit, “Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812,” to a blockbuster of a show featuring Leonardo da Vinci. Gish Jen is a Culture Show contributor who joins us monthly.
Finally, head to Gloucester for a visit to the nation’s oldest art colony. The Rocky Neck Art Colony's Rocky Neck Now runs through the end of March, and Janice Brand, co-president of the art colony, joins the show to share an overview of the annual show highlighting the work of members.
