A new food hall curated by a Michelin-starred chef has opened in downtown Boston.
The Lineup, which is open weekdays to serve those who want a bite during the workday, features a veritable lineup of food curated by chef John Fraser. Offerings include vegetarian Mexican street food, Mediterranean food, pizza, burgers, coffee and more. It’s located in The Connector building at 115 Federal Street in Winthrop Square.
The Lineup's current hours are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Day Shift, the coffee shop on site, opens at 7 a.m.
Fraser, who has restaurants in New York, Florida and California, said there are a range of options for those taking a long lunch or just needing a quick break.
“We hope people will be able to find a way to visit us more than once a week,” he said. “As much as it is a culinary destination, it's also about utility, and it's about affordability, and it's about how quickly we can serve folks. So, we hope that we've considered all of those factors in being able to service the downtown population.”
Workers visiting the food hall can also take in some art. Glass artist Dale Chihuly has a permanent, commissioned installation in the hall, called "Vermillion Fiori", along with a temporary exhibition featuring a few more of his glass sculptures.
“The Winthrop Center’s ‘Connector’ promises to be an exciting gathering place for the Boston community and creating the Vermillion Fiori Installation for this new space has been an incredible experience,” Chihuly said in a statement. “I hope that visitors find beauty in my work and how it interacts with the environment.”
Fraser said an additional full-service sit down restaurant will be opening in The Lineup in late spring, and food hall hours might be extended. He also hopes to begin offering alcohol in the future.
