Open Studio takes its own bow after a decade on the air.
Jared Bowen invited back two people who’ve made sitting on the Open Studio set both moving and entertaining.
First up is Grammy-winner Lori McKenna, the Stoughton singer-songwriter who launched into the Boston music scene in the 1990s. Nashville quickly caught on to her songwriting talents, bringing her recognition and acclaim. Bowen says he loves how McKenna observes the quiet details that most of us toss away — the little moments that make our lives most meaningful.
As the series winds up Bowen has been reflecting on some of his favorite Open Studio moments. Among them is his 2017 interview with the painter Frank Stella. As a young artist in the 1960s, Stella made a seismic splash on the New York art scene. Sixty years later, he remains one of our most revered living artists. Bowen met with Stella at the Addison Gallery of American Art, right on the campus that helped to launch Stella's career
Bowen's final guest is actor, singer, writer and advocate Alan Cumming. He has boundless energy, fills every room he’s in and delivers dramatic performances that are arresting in their rawness. Bowen says that whether Cumming is performing Miley Cyrus or Macbeth, he grounds his approach in thought and truth.
