On the latest episode of Open Studio with Jared Bowen, Bowen goes behind the scenes of the hit musical "SIX," which is now onstage at the Emerson Colonial Theatre. "SIX" tells the stories of the wives of Henry VIII. "Divorced, Beheaded, Died; Divorced, Beheaded, Survived," are among the catchy lyrics that sum up the fate — and articulate the attitude — of these queens who are reclaiming their place in history.

Then, Bowen sits down with photographer Rosamond Purcell. In the last half-century as an artist, Purcell has been an innovator in the field of photo manipulation, using layering, negatives and reflection. Now, after 50 years of conjuring mind-bending images, Purcell is getting her first retrospective at the Addison Gallery of American Art.

Then it's time to get into the holiday spirit by way of the " Urban Nutcracker." In 2001 Anthony Williams envisioned a different kind of "Nutcracker" for Boston. More than a choreographer, Williams is an alchemist who has mixed hip-hop, street theater and Duke Ellington with Tchaikovsky's music to give a holiday classic a contemporary spin.

Bowen wraps up the show with Arts This Week, his rundown of the latest hits to take the stage on Broadway.
