This week on Open Studio, Jared Bowen talks to mixed-media artist Rose B. Simpson, whose work of clay sculptures in now on view at the ICA. Rose B. Simpson talks about her Indigenous identity, how she finds the creative process to be healing, why she sees her sculptures as beings rather than objects, and how becoming a mother has changed her creative process.
From there it's the other reason to head to Salem: the Punto Urban Art Museum. Jared talks to the creative team who has turned The Point neighborhood into an area bursting with murals. All of them painted by local artists or artists who collaborate with the community.
Then it's time for Arts this Week, Bowen's rundown of the latest arts and culture events in and around Boston.
We wrap up with artist Casey Bradley. he uses mixed materials, such as tree bark and cork with iron and steel, to create works that reflect our close relationship with nature and how often removed we are from the great outdoors.
