The latest episode of Open Studio with Jared Bowen looks at Tufts University’s new exhibit documenting an artist-led movement to end the United States' intervention in Central America. Then, Bowen meets the people behind a music experience coming to a home near you.
The new Tufts exhibit, Art for the Future: Artists Call and Central American Solidarity, showcases how the 1980s was a time of art and activism. It’s on display at the school's Aidekman Art Center in Medford and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts in Boston. The exhibit looks at the Artists Call movement, which sought an end to U.S. intervention in Central America. The exhibit is on view through April 24.
Jared then sits down with Christina English, executive director of the Sheffield Chamber Players, and musician and composer Kevin Day. The group’s mission is to preserve the intimacy of its pieces by performing in their audiences' living rooms. With a sliding scale cost of admission, the group hopes to reach classical music fans of all backgrounds.
