With award season around the corner, Netflix appears to have primed itself to move from storming the Golden Globes to dominating the Oscars. In the last few weeks, the company has released a blitz of star-studded films generating buzz as award season looms.
In November, Netflix released “A Marriage Story,” which stars Adam Driver and Scarlett Johannson as a couple struggling to cope with the impact of their divorce on their family. During an interview with Boston Public Radio on Friday, WGBH Executive Arts Editor Jared Bowen highly recommended the film, and particularly praised Driver’s performance.
“This is such a perfect film, I think, because you find two characters that you really root for,” Bowen said. “It’s very real. It’s very nuanced. There's so many layers to this that make it a delicious, beautifully crafted film.”
