WGBH Arts Editor Jared Bowen joined Boston Public Radio Wednesday to discuss “Prince of Providence,” a play currently showing at the Trinity Repertoire in Providence. “Prince of Providence" follows the life and career of Buddy Cianci, former mayor of Providence, who was later indicted on corruption and racketeering charges related to his time in office.
“This is a powerhouse play,” Bowen said. “[Audiences] remember the legacy that he left.”
Bowen continued, saying “this is woven into the fabric of this piece, too — that we’re sitting in a theater in which he argued for funding, to channel into [Providence]."
Bowen also discussed “Homer at the Beach,” a Cape Ann art exhibit displaying aquatic works from famed New England painter Winslow Homer.
