After four years off the air, fans of “Downton Abbey” will be able to revisit the Crawley when the film of the same name opens in theaters on Thursday. WGBH Executive Arts Editor Jared Bowen said the film will be a treat for die-hard fans of the series.
“I think anybody who loved the television series, this catapults you right back into Downton Abbey,” Bowen said during an interview with Boston Public Radio on Wednesday.
What ties the entire film together, Bowen said, is the chemistry between the cast members. During the series run, Bowen said he had the chance to interview several cast members and felt that off the screen, there were genuine friendships that had formed.
“I found that they really love each other,” Bowen said. “They love what they did [and] they had this wonderful chemistry.”
