After 36 years, 20 albums, and two Grammy Awards, the Brooklyn-based band They Might Be Giants has just released its newest album, “I Like Fun.”
The band’s duo, John Linnel and John Flansburgh, met as teens growing up in Lincoln, Mass., and they returned to Boston recently to play a sold out show at the House Of Blues. They spoke backstage with Joe Mathieu about the New York – Boston rivalry, stage fright and being on the road, and their attempt to stay authentic and true to themselves.
They also took a step back to discuss the deeper side of their music, which is full of funky melodies, contrasting with lyrics that play with the concepts of death and existential dread.
