NPR Music’s Stephen Thompson recently wrote that Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy has “a voice built to fill stadiums," and after the show he put on at the Royale last night, we couldn’t agree more.
The packed house was struck by the fire in his soul and the unfiltered honesty in his lyrics the moment he took to the stage and began to sing. But beguiling audiences has never been difficult for the NPR Slingshot artist. His performances, including his recent set in our Fraser performance studio, cover a wide spectrum. Celebratory and solemn. Playful and serious. Analog and electronic. It's not secret that Kennedy is fascinated by extremes, and he is well on his way to doing some pretty special things in music.
