The Great American Read: Classic Vs. Modern Romance

Emily Schario is a producer in the WGBH Studio at the Boston Public Library, where she produces radio and digital broadcasts about the Boston community and beyond. Before joining WGBH, Emily was the news editor for her college newspaper and interned at WBUR’s On Point Radio. She has a degree in mediated communication and English literature from Stonehill College.

In this Facebook Live, Distinguished Service Lecturer and Retired Associate Dean at the Harvard University Extension School Sue Weaver Schopf and President of the New England Chapter of Romance Writers of America Jackie Horne joined host Callie Crossley in examining how modern romantic novels like Americanah, The Notebook, and Twilight compare to classic romance novels like Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, and Wuthering Heights.
