Greater Boston’s theater community gathered at the Citi Shubert Theatre Monday night to celebrate the season’s top productions and performances at the 34th annual Elliot Norton Awards. The Boston Theater Critics Association—WGBH Arts Editor Jared Bowen is a member—presented more than two dozen awards, named after the late theater critic Elliot Norton, to actors, writers, directors and ensembles.
Tony Award-winning actress Mary Louise Wilson received the lifetime achievement award. Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s founding artistic director, Steven Maler, received the Elliot Norton Prize for Sustained Excellence. In addition, composer Matthew Aucoin received a special citation for his opera “Crossing.”
